Story by Pete Doherty

Friday was our last day in Chicago. We knew this meant a lot of driving was ahead of us to get back home again. Once again we went through the routine of getting up, ready, and fed so that we could meet back at the Nyman's. After some good-byes and thank yous on our part we bid our generous hosts adieu, and were back on the road. Our first mission of the day before we left Chicago, was to eat lunch at the Taste of Chicago Festival. This is an event put on by the various food establishments of Chicago to showcase their cuisine to the public. There was an eclectic variety of food, everything from alligator, to good old Chicago stuffed pizza. Soon after we had all had our fill, we got on the road for good this time. We drove straight through the day until we reached our destination for the evening, South Bass Island, on lake Eerie in Ohio. After getting camp set up, we all went to the local Dairy Queen for some dinner. However when we arrived there, much to our horror, we saw that it was COVERED in Mayflies. This was a mixed blessing--it shows that Lake Eerie is a clean lake, but on the other hand--EEW! So needless to say not everyone ate that night. After a quick evening back at the camp site we all hit the hay in anticipation of our last full day on the trip.
