Story by Pete Doherty
Our day started off bright and early in each of our individual host's homes. After the arduous task of getting everyone up fed and ready, we all met back at the Nyman's house for our mission of the day. We started off by getting in the van and heading to the University of Chicago for a tour. It was a beautiful campus, with post card views of gothic architecture mixed with contemporary decor. Along with a beautiful campus, we were told of the rich history that the university had experienced. Our next password came as we were told the founder of the University, John Rockefeller. Our mission was to work in a soup kitchen that night.
After a quick lunch at McDonalds, we were off and working. We first cleaned up the premises, organizing the miscellaneous items in the outside building. Then as dinnertime came, we were actively serving and working with both the kitchen staff and those who came in search of a hot meal. It was a good experience and everyone put their best foot forward in order to get the job done. We had time before our last mission of the night, so we were able to visit a true Chicago landmark, the Sears Tower. Everyone had a good time here, and soon after this we were once again off to our respective homes for a night of sleep.
